Toyota’s cooling-system hoses seem to hold up amazingly well.
Loss of coolant from a leaky or ruptured hose can cause catastrophic engine failure due to overheating.

Hoses need to be kept free from oil, as oil contamination will cause the rubber to breakdown and weakens it so that it’s prone to rupturing. Bulging hoses are a sign of weakened rubber that’s vulnerable to rupturing.

Leaking or compromised hoses should be replaced.
